Whirlpool duet washer error code E01 F06

Of course, it’s unpleasant when the Whirlpool duet washer displays error code E01 F06 and refuses to work. Moreover, it does not start any mode. But at the same time, the power supply to the equipment is normal, a specific buzz of voltage is heard.

What does error code E01 F06 mean?

It indicates the problem of the interaction of two boards:

  • CCU (central module);
  • MCU (engine control microcircuit).

That is, there is no connection between them, through which a signal about the beginning of the program and the transition to another mode is transmitted. Because of this, error E1 F6 appears, and the washing machine does not start working.

The first element is located under the upper panel in the right front corner and is made as a node with many wires. The second part is located in the lower part, under the tank.

What do you need to do first?

First of all, try reloading the appliance:

  • unplug the power cord;
  • wait for 5 minutes;
  • switch on the machine.

If error code E01 F06 does not appear, then the problem has been solved. To verify this completely, enter the diagnostic mode and perform a quick test. Enter is performed when the washer is connected to the network, and the indicators are functioning.

Select three buttons (any but POWER) and press them alternately for 8 seconds: primarily on the first button, then on the second one, and at the end of the third one. Repeat the action twice, taking into account the order of pressing exactly. This activates the service diagnostic mode: the lights will switch on, and 888 will display.

Perform an express test. To do this, press and release the second button that was used previously. After the start, LED begins blinking, press START to do the test. If error E01 F06 appears, then the problem is not resolved, and you need to look for its cause. Exit diagnostic mode by pressing POWER.

Cardinal actions

In Whirlpool duet washer error code E01 F06 is one of the most hard-diagnosable signals because it indicates a problem with two boards: MCU and CCU. And it is difficult to understand which of them has failed. Other elements can indirectly cause this error.

Wire connections breakage

When everything is normal, the central control unit and the engine board exchange data, sending signals. If the process is interrupted, error code E01 F06 appears. In this case, check the wiring and connectors. You can access the CCU as follows:

  • disconnect the machine from the mains;
  • untwist the three screws on the back wall of the top panel;
  • remove the unscrewed cover;
  • find the main module in the upper corner of the front.

Plug and unplug each connector one by one. When the connections are in their places, remove the back panel to gain access to the motor control board, and repeat the actions. In the end, connect the machine and see if error E1 F6 repeats. Just in case, test the cable continuity between the CCU (MI3, MS2) and the MCU with a multimeter. At all points of the harnesses and windings, the resistance should be 8.5 – 14 Ω.

The defective motor control module

You can get to it from the front as well as from the back because it is located under the tank. Unscrew the mounting bolts, and you will see a white plastic case in which the MCU is located, causing error code E01 F06 in Whirlpool duet washer.

Carefully unfasten three latches, take out aboard. Examine it for burnt-out paths, blackening, exfoliation, melted spots. If they are present, solder the contacts, replace the damaged elements, or the entire control module. It costs $ 219. Did error E01 F06 not disappear? Proceed to the CCU check.

Damage to the main control board

As the manufacturer notes, it is only advisable to reinstall it. So if you find black dots and burned paths, buy a new element. Its price is $ 250.

To remove the board and eliminate error code E1 F6, switch off the machine, remove the front panel, and remove the screws that hold the cover. Then slide it back and lift it. Unscrew the dispenser, find the module W10427967. Dismantle and replace it.
